BCGL 18: Morphosyntactic Variation and Expressivity

About This Conference
BCGL 18: Morphosyntactic Variation and Expressivity is the 18th edition of the Brussels Conference on Generative Linguistics, a focused workshop series that brings together formal linguists to investigate theoretically challenging phenomena through the lens of generative grammar. This edition concentrates on morphosyntactic variation and the grammatical encoding of expressive meaning.

Topics include syntactic microvariation, expressive and evaluative morphology, agreement phenomena, affective constructions, and cross-linguistic variation in morphosyntactic categories. The workshop is aimed at formal syntacticians, morphologists, and semanticists who work within or alongside generative frameworks. Its small-group format encourages in-depth discussion and collaborative engagement with open theoretical problems at the boundary of structure and meaning.
