The First International Workshop on Model Engineering for Digital Innovation in Healthcare, co-located with a major software engineering conference in Malaga, Spain, pioneers a new research dialogue at the intersection of model-driven engineering and healthcare digital transformation. As healthcare systems worldwide accelerate their digitalization — adopting electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, and IoT-enabled monitoring — the need for rigorous, model-based approaches to healthcare software design has never been greater. This inaugural workshop explores how modeling languages, domain-specific languages, model transformations, and digital twin technologies can drive safer, interoperable, and more adaptable healthcare information systems, bringing together software engineers, clinical informaticists, and healthcare IT practitioners.

The First International Workshop on Model Engineering for Digital Innovation in Healthcare invites original research papers, experience reports, and position papers. Topics of interest include: domain-specific modeling languages for healthcare; model-driven development of clinical information systems; digital twins in patient monitoring and hospital operations; model-based interoperability and HL7 FHIR integration; model transformations for healthcare data migration; formal verification of safety-critical healthcare software; low-code and no-code platforms for health applications; AI model integration in clinical decision support; electronic health record architecture and modeling; and regulatory compliance modeling (MDR, FDA).
