Gendered Mobilities: Migration, Community and Belonging in World Literature

This interdisciplinary conference brings together literary scholars, migration researchers, and gender studies specialists to explore how contemporary world literature represents migration, displacement, and the formation of belonging across linguistic and cultural boundaries. Participants examine the ways in which gendered experiences of mobility — whether forced or chosen — reshape community bonds, identity, and the politics of hospitality and exclusion in an era of accelerating global movement. The conference creates space for comparative and transnational perspectives that illuminate the literary imagination's role in narrating the human costs and possibilities of migration.
