Risk mitigation of aging infrastructures and assets under natech events

Dec 03 - 03, 2026
Abstract Deadline: Nov 15, 2026
About This Conference
The International Workshop on Risk Mitigation of Aging Infrastructures and Assets under Natech Events, held in Chambéry, France, addresses the growing vulnerability of aging industrial and civil infrastructure to natech (natural hazard triggering technological accident) events. As critical assets such as pipelines, bridges, storage tanks, and industrial plants age, their structural resilience to earthquakes, floods, landslides, and extreme weather deteriorates — increasing the risk of cascading technological accidents. This specialized workshop brings together risk engineers, structural analysts, emergency planners, and policymakers to review current risk assessment frameworks, share case studies from recent natech incidents, and develop guidelines for prioritizing mitigation investment across aging asset portfolios.
Call for Papers
The workshop invites original contributions on risk assessment and mitigation strategies for aging infrastructure exposed to natural hazards. Topics of interest include: structural degradation and aging effects on natech risk; seismic, flood, and landslide vulnerability of industrial assets; risk quantification methods for natech scenarios; inspection and monitoring technologies for aging infrastructure; maintenance optimization and life-extension strategies; emergency response planning for natech events; regulatory frameworks and safety standards; GIS-based spatial risk mapping; case studies of natech incidents involving aging assets; and climate change implications for infrastructure risk profiles. Papers, extended abstracts, and poster presentations are welcome.
