Trauma-Informed and Inclusive Frameworks in Adult and Continuing Education: Pedagogies, Institutions, and Lifelong Learning Futures

Sep 30 - 30, 2026
Abstract Deadline: Oct 31, 2026
About This Conference
This special issue of the Journal of Adult and Continuing Education focuses on the urgent need to embed trauma-informed and inclusive pedagogical frameworks into adult and continuing education settings, recognizing that many adult learners carry complex histories of adversity that intersect with their engagement in formal and informal learning. Contributors examine how educational institutions, community programs, and professional development contexts can create psychologically safe, equitable, and responsive learning environments that serve the diverse needs of adult populations navigating lifelong learning. The issue invites scholars, practitioners, and advocates to build a research base that connects trauma-informed care principles with pedagogical innovation, institutional policy, and visions for transformative educational futures.
Call for Papers
We invite submissions examining trauma-informed pedagogy in adult and continuing education, inclusive curriculum design, equity and access in lifelong learning, leadership and policy for responsive educational institutions, and research on transformative educational futures. Both empirical research and practitioner reflections grounded in theory are welcome.
